Custom Programs

If you are looking for an alternative to regularly scheduled group classes, a customized program may suit your needs.

Courses may be arranged in languages regularly offered at WAL, as well as languages not regularly available.

Programs are specifically tailored to match student language-learning goals and objectives. Customized courses have encompassed such topics as general conversation, business e-mail writing, public speaking, preparation for specific language tests and improving grammar usage.

Lessons are scheduled at times that are mutually convenient for the student and the instructor.

While instruction generally takes place at Washington Academy of Languages (located next to Seattle Pacific University's campus) lessons may sometimes be conducted off-site, depending on certain factors, such as location and suitable learning environment.  Please note that extra fees may be assessed for programs not held at WAL.

Customized Program costs are related to the number of hours of instruction for which the student contracts.  A minimum of 10 hours must be purchased for customized programs. A preliminary meeting may be arranged so the student can become familiar with the instructor. A $45.00 fee is charged to the student for this first meeting. It is during the first meeting that specific program content and instructional goals are established. Total program hours are determined in consultation with the instructor, in order to ensure maximum effectiveness of the course work within the time constraints of the student. Payments are confirmed by contract. Any changes in an agreed-upon schedule, however, may affect the cost of the program. Cancellation of a customized lesson can be made without charge with at least 24 hours notice.

Two or more students in the same program

For two or more students in the same program, the program cost for one student is used as the base and a 30% surcharge for each additional student, up to five, is added. Programs for groups larger than five students will be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
