Teaching Spoken Language to the ESL Student

Techniques for teaching conversation, pronunciation and critical listening in both structured and unstructured learning situations for ESL students are presented. Culture-specific definitions of "conversation" are examined. Participants practice techniques and learn methods of assessing student proficiency and progress. This course is part of the TESL Certificate and ELL endorsement program and is required for the certificate and/or endorsement.

Schedule Options:

Summer Intensive Course 2008 at Pacific Lutheran University or Seattle Pacific University
The summer program runs during the daytime from the last week in June through the third week of August, and is comprised of eight one-week courses. You may take all eight classes or choose only those courses of special interest to you. At SPU each course is offered for three units of quarter credit. At Pacific Lutheran University each course is offered for two units of semester credit.
