Principles of Language Learning and Teaching
An in-depth comparison and contrast of first and second language acquisition principles is provided in this course. Learning theories, the impact of individual learning and cognitive styles, and personality and socio-cultural factors affecting second language acquisition are examined. Application of theory and research findings to effective teaching methods and the development of a personal philosophy of second language teaching are an important focus of this course. This course is part of the TESL Certificate and ELL endorsement program, this course or Introduction to Linguistics is required for the certificate and/or endorsement.

| Summer Intensive Course 2008 at Pacific Lutheran University The summer program runs during the daytime from the last week in June through the third week of August, and is comprised of eight one-week courses. You may take all eight classes or choose only those courses of special interest to you. At Pacific Lutheran University each course is offered for two units of Semester credits. |
